Modifications.

We have carried out a number of modification in readiness for our retirement to make life more comfortable especially to the power supply and generation. Below you will find a number of modifications to the yacht that may help you in the future. The radar pole is gimballed which makes the radar more efficiency when heeled.

2 S/Steel plates welded and a slot milled to allow movement around the lower bolt. This gives an effective and very low cost gimbal.

Here is a 4" computer fan 12v fitted into the Vetus fan over the galley, great for removing the heat of cooking and for little cost.

A 60 watt solar panel runs our fridge all day but the conditions have to be right, back up is a Honda generator.

370 amp tractor battery for domestics in the Stb locker it also runs our inverter for 240v AC use

J.R.C. radar mounted above chart table, and fitting in cockpit. Out this way you need radar,  fog descends very quickly.

Quick anchor winch with 60 mtrs of chain and 100 mtrs rope.

Folding fishing seat, it works, dinners to prove it.

No amidships cleat, just put 14mm rope through toe rail fig 8 knot

Window with zip on front of spray hood a must for hot weather

Pockets in the sides of the spray hood, Atlantic rolling is a problem at times, everything needs securing.

Fitted 6 small halogen lights in the saloon 3 each side.

These lights have made a great deal of difference to living on board for longer periods especially reading books.

Ice in the fridge, I have insulated all around the fridge with foam including the pipes that run from the compressor to the cold plate. The back of the fridge against the hull had no insulation so if the sun was port side the fridge did no get down to freeze. This has been a major success, if you want to know more email me. I also have finally got conformation from Isotherm that I can power the fridge directly through a 12v source other than the battery as stated repeatedly in the Isotherm manual.

If you are thinking of doing any of this get in touch. Even better, if you have ideas pass them on to others through the WEB site.
